Bargain : Kamik Men's Nationwide Waterproof Winter Boot,Dk Brown,13 W
Just moved to Michigan from California, so naturally I needed a nice pair of boots. I saw these at a store, but ended up buying online. I also bought 3 pairs of pricey wool socks - 2 extra thick, and 1 regular.
I've tried these boots 3 times now. It's 30 degrees outside with lots of snow on the ground. Within 30 seconds of walking in the snow I could already feel cold on my feet. Within 5 minutes my feet are cold. My Ugg boots are warmer, but they are suede so they eventually get colder since they soak up the water.
I will try and wear 2 pairs of thick wool socks next and see if that helps - but I am suprised that within 30 seconds I can feel cold in the boot and within 5 minutes my feet were cold. I am not sure that socks are going to help.
I understand this is a $60-80 dollar boot and not a $200 dollar one, but I would expect these at minimum to keep my feet from getting cold in such a short time.
I am rating these a 3, the construction appears nice I'd give that a 4.5. I am inclined to give these things a 2 though since the boot is marketed and labeled with a -40 rating. There is absolutely no way. It is 30 degrees out, and my boot in the snow feels cold very quick. Maybe this boot would stay warm in a perfectly dry setting, with no wind snow or water at -40, but my feet are cold with expensive wool socks at 30 in what I'm guessing is 32 degree snow.
